Senior Systems Biologist / Senior Computational Biologist
My Intelligent Machines (MIMs) is looking for a talented Senior Systems Biologist / Senior Computational Biologist to join a dynamic team building a world class augmented intelligence R&D platform for life scientists working in BioPharma and agriculture companies.
MIMs is a fast-growing software company, with a dynamic and gender balanced team building a world class augmented intelligence platform for R&D life scientists working in BioPharma and agriculture companies, helping them to stratify patient populations, to identify drug targets and biomarkers and to develop more efficient and personalized treatments and Agro-Products.
Reporting directly to the lead of MIMs solutions team, you will work closely with life scientists, bioinformaticians, biostatisticians, data scientists, AI and software engineers. This full time position will focus on designing data integration and multi-omic modelling strategies and to support their implementations within MIMs solutions. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in systems biology, statistical modelling, machine learning, and data analysis, particularly as applied to large-scale, high-dimensional data sets. In particular, we are interested in candidates who have experience with multi-omic data modalities to support the inference of gene functionality and co-functionality, functional interaction, systems modelling applied to systems stratification, biomarkers and drug targets identification.
Main Responsibilities
Provide scientific leadership in the goals, architecture, and implementation of multi-omic data integration and modelling aspects of solutions developed at MIMs;
Work with scientists and software developers of the solution team to identify, adapt or develop pipelines and methods;
Lead the biological validation of developed solutions;
Work with data scientists to define appropriate data structure and ontology to be used by the solutions;
Collaborate with UX-designer and front-end developers to ensure optimal user-flow, human/machine synergy and facilitate results interpretation;
Contribute to manuscripts and software documentation resulting from standards development or scientific results.
Qualifications
Expert in the computational and mathematical analysis and modeling of complex biological systems;
A Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, biomedical engineering or related quantitative discipline and 3+ years of postdoc or post-graduate experience in systems biology;
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in systems biology, statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analysis, particularly as applied to large-scale, high-dimensional multi-omic data sets;
Proficient in applying graph theories to biology / network biology;
Programing skills in Python;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English/French);
Experience with writing unit-tests/performing code review is a plus.
